Lime Pointing

Expert Knowledge

Lime pointing

Having undertaken an extensive range of pointing projects, JB conservation have excellent experience dealing with lime restoration, with a sympathetic approach.

the Benefits

Why use Lime Pointing?

Using lime mortar instead of a cement mortar for pointing stone masonry and brickwork is a wise choice and very beneficial. Lime is a softer, breathable material which will allow moisture to move through the joints, allowing it to breath more effectively; unlike cement mortar which traps the moisture within the building walls, being a main cause for internal damp.

The process of Lime Pointing

Without the breathability, solid built walls can become saturated, creating an ideal environment for fungi, mould and algae.

It is necessary to remove cementitious material from the joints, allowing to ‘re-point’ with lime mortar.

We can help with matching mortar colours along with different aggregates, to ensure your building or structure will effectively improve, as well as having an appealing look.
